Mice are traditionally thought of as being fond of cheese.
But this nauesating video shows a rodent who has far fancier tastes in its snacks.
The tiny mouse was caught scurrying around buckets of olives in the deli counter at a Fairway Supermarket in New York.
The unexpected addition to the olive bar in the grocery store’s Broadway shop near West 74th Street was caught on camera by MyUpperWest.com blog, NY Daily News reported.
I only wanted a nibble! The tiny mouse perches on the olives and surveys the spicy mix next to it.
Unexpected surprise: The mouse scampered along the olives, much to the disgust of fellow shoppers
A spokesman for the store, which is open from 7am to 1am, has apologised for the unwelcome rodent.
Glenn Herman wrote a letter to Fairway’s customer service department and posted it on the blog, NY Daily News reported.
He wrote that he was startled when a fellow customer jumped away from the olive bins and started waving his arms around.
He said: ‘I discovered a small rat or mouse happily hanging out in the olive bins.’
The rodent appeared at the Fairway supermarket in Broadway, but staff assured the shopper who complained they would deal with the problem
A Fairway spokesman insisted that the vermin issue would be ‘addressed immediately.’
This isn’t the first time a critter has been caught ransacking the aisles of Fairway, the website reported.
It said the same blog had uploaded video footage of a rat scampering across an aisle in the same store.
After observing a pair of rats for around 20 minutes, the blogger believed the pair were stealing peanuts.
