Fox 5 News Covers “Rat in the Olive Bin at Fairway Market” Story!

MYFOXNY.COM – A tiny mouse was caught on video hanging out in a bin full of stuffed olives at Fairway supermarket in Manhattan.

The video, posted on the blog MyUpperWest.com, was reportedly taken on Sept. 10 at the store on Broadway and 74th St.

The mouse is seen running across the olives.

In an email reportedly sent to Fairway customer service, blogger Glenn Herman says the video was shot at about 12:30 a.m.

He was walking all over the produce. The night manager and a clerk were discussing how they knew about the problem and that the exterminator was coming.”

In response from the ‘Catering Director,’ Herman was told the issue would be “addressed immediately.”

Herman goes on to say that the incident is not the first he’s witnessed at the supermarket chain.

A representative for Fairway issued a statement late Thursay morning:

“We believe the incident was caused by the massive construction that is happening throughout the immediate vicinity of the store, and which has been well documented in the press. In fact, we have done an exhaustive top to bottom review of our store and determined that the problem is definitely an external one. So, we are now taking comprehensive measures and spending thousands of dollars to fully remedy the situation so it doesn’t happen again.”

Earlier this month, MyUpperWest.com posted video of a rat streaking across an aisle in the same store, reported the N.Y. Daily News.
